MOTH MAINSAIL 3A
The 3A is a result of winter testing and final tweaks post the Dubai worlds.
Made from Dimension Polyant ODL04 Technora laminate weighing 2.8 oz
Designed as a medium to heavy wind sail ( 12 to 25 knots) . This sail is flatter than the 2A and 2B and suits stiffer masts or lighter people. The sail is designed so you can loose the top half with firm downhaul use. The sail is also longer footed and narrower mid girth than the 2A and B. So has a lower centre of effort.
We have finally gone with 6 battens with a seventh foot batten to tidy up the tack area. The 6 main battens are all cam'd. Most have only 5 cams, leaving the top bumpy and a bit out of control. Having a top batten cam allows the sailor to fine tune the batten for the prevailing conditions. 6 cams also makes the luff rotation smoother making for a fairer leading edge.
New softer sleeve cloth to allow smoother rotation and less wrinkles.
Coated 3.8 polykote luff panel to give more progressive downhaul control.
Bigger window panels.
New clew patch arrangement, we have reverted back to our sailmaking roots and put a proper load bearing clew patch back in to the design.
